Updates at Kinbaku Books Kinbaku Today 1

Some fantastic new updates at the Kinbaku Books site!

Bergborg has added two new posts, the first one is on a pair of very interesting issues of Kitan Club from 1959 and 1960, both photo collections. These books provide a great look at some of the foundations of modern kinbaku just as it was starting to really take off in Japan. Most issues of Kitan Club would have small photo sections, but be composed mainly of stories.

The second is a collection of 5 original Itoh Seiu sketches. These are an incredible find, as Itoh Seiu’s work is very well known in Japan and doesn’t become available all that often. It is a magnificent addition to the kinbaku books website and to Bergborg’s collection. These sketches are quite beautiful and like much of his work, captures the sense of beautiful suffering that so heavily influenced the development of modern kinbaku.

See the images and write up here.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Bergborg’s site, it is an amazing resource and collection of kinbaku books. Definitely worth bookmarking and keeping up with.

Bergborg runs the site for free, but is always open to donations. He has a recent call for donations up.

His site provides a truly valuable service to the kinbaku community and we hope you can donate something to his project to ensure that he can keep getting books and share his amazing finds with the worldwide kinbaku community.

Donation information.

If you donate, he will send you a gift of a small card with a Muku Yoji print on it. Look for some upcoming posts about Muku, which will also include the history of those little cards!

Congratulations again to Bergborg on acquiring those sketches and many thanks for so generously sharing them with us all!
